Between Our Eyes
Between our eyes:
we lay on the red desert sands,
your embrace protects me,
my voice soothes the race of your mind,
though I can see the many Martian moons rising,
time seems stuck in your embrace
Inside your iris:
I caress your soul
while you tap at mine,
we dance on the rings of Saturn to a tune
that only exists here in this realm
Upon my stare:
you swam in the cool of Pluto,
discovering a liquid you always wanted to try,
the taste – sweet, exotic,
I fulfilled your most impossible desire
In our glance:
you noticed that my heart is bigger than Jupiter,
with unmarked real estate,
you built a home in my core,
not caring that it will eventually deplete me to nothing
Then you looked away:
reminding me that I never floated in the cosmos
but exist here
on this planet
where I am burned by acid rain
and breathe in polluted smog
alone.
Longing to catch your eyes once more
