This poem delves into the challenges faced by me, a Black queer individual. Possessing a heart brimming with empathy, I grappled with self-acceptance due to the confines of a homophobic and narrow-minded family environment. However, as I stepped into college, newfound possibilities emerged for me to embark on a journey of self-discovery.

Resurrection
I was inspired to write this piece when I thought I had lost all the pictures on my phone. To me, some of those photos were more than photos — they were pieces of me, pieces forgotten, or perhaps I was afraid that I might have forgotten. I wrote this story with that memory at the back of my mind — that nagging feeling of a loss.
